Important Meeting Chaired by Sindh CM

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presided over the 51st Public‑Private Partnership (PPP) Policy Board meeting, attended by provincial ministers including Nasir Hussain Shah and Zia‑ul‑Hasan Lanjari, along with other senior officials. At the meeting, several major infrastructure projects for Karachi and Sindh were approved, signifying a push toward improved connectivity and urban development.

Infrastructure Projects Approved

One of the main approvals included the new Sukkur‑Rohri bridge project over the River Indus, designed to enhance connections between Sukkur and Rohri and reduce traffic bottlenecks. Briefing notes highlighted that the bridge will span approximately 1.5 kilometers and include separate lanes for heavy vehicles and pedestrians.

Officials also provided updates on the Bhutto Expressway, which is 88 percent complete, and the CM instructed authorities to ensure it becomes operational by April 2026.

In addition, planners briefed participants on projects for solar street lighting in Somo Goth and feasibility studies for upgraded road connections at Kathore and other areas in the metropolis.

PPP Policy Reforms

Alongside project approvals, the board approved reforms to the PPP policy, aimed at strengthening transparency, rejecting unfair bids, and encouraging private sector investment in public infrastructure development. This includes the adoption of a Right of First Refusal (ROFR) policy to enhance investor confidence in upcoming projects.

The chief minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing sustainable and modern infrastructure across Sindh to improve quality of life and economic activity.
